The Cooks in Tokyo

Home On Holiday Our Place Ethan About Japan

Welcome to our web site!

We thought we'd create this website to record some of our experiences in Japan & to share Ethan's progress with friends & family wherever they may be. We hope you enjoy.

What's New?

Well after many months of slacking off we finally got around to updating our website.

We've added 2 new places to the About Japan page, as we holidayed in Nagano-ken & by Mount Fuji. We also added some photo's of our trip to the UK back in July on the On Holiday page.

And of course the latest photos of Ethan

This page was last updated on 12/13/03.

A View from Japan:

Meiji-jingu, Tokyo's premier Shinto shrine, is a memorial to Emperor Meiji who died in 1912 & his Empress Shoken who died in 1914. The shrine was created as a symbol of Imperial power.

Above: The wooden torri leading to the shrine cleanses those who pass under of evil spirits.

Latest news:

The last 5 months have seen much activity for us. The highlights of which have included:

July - a trip to the UK to catch up with family & friends

August - a quiet month for us, we spent the hottest month of summer around & about Tokyo.

September - a long weekend visit to the Japanese Alps around Nagano & Matsumoto. Matt & Hannah visited from the UK the following weekend and we headed a couple of hours south-west of Tokyo to Fuji Goko in a failed attempt to glimpse Mount Fuji-san.

October - Carol & Suzy visited from Oz managing to overlap briefly with Janet & Lisa visiting from the UK. Mum and lisa joined us on a visit to the beaches of Shimoda 3 hours South of Tokyo where the weather was hot enough for a quick swim in the sea.

November - This time a long weekend trip to Okinawa for a bit of sun (although not alot). Unfortunately no photos and we didn't get to watch the rugby WC final, a relief for Michelle as it turned out.

Ethan has come a long way since we last updated this site in June.
